Writing slump...

I really want to, honesty! I want to sit down and start into the fifth chapter! MY biggest writing problem is motivation. I can never let my characters rest and find a place where they are comfortable. If I had been Tolkien, LotR would have ended in Rivendell. If I has been Shannon Hale, Ani would have stayed with Gilsa and been a farm girl. They were safe for a moment and did not have any immediate goals.

So where I am: My main character is in a city, with friends after a long journey. There are no known enemies near by. I have no motivation to finish. My character is not on a mission at the time. I have no reason to move him on, I am not excited to write about him. I'm thinking now would be a good time for the maiming to occur.... I also have no plot at this time. I have a conflict already that is connected to a larger one, but I have no clue what will happen with the larger one, or when, or how to introduce it.

Would it be ok if I emailed some of you what I have written so far and asking you to guess what would happen next logically, knowing that I shall completely trash your ideas and do something completely illogical and unexpected?

And I've actualy been on a writing kick, so...I wish I feel sympathetic, but I can't.

Anyway...a lot of times when I don't want to write whatever scene I'm on, I'll write some random, dramatic scene that fits in because it's more fun. So that would be like maiming your character, maybe.

I think it's important to keep writing. A lot of stuff figures itself out, and sometimes, you just have to write what you can and when you go back to reread it, you'll solve some of the problems. Keeping a writing journal helps; I don't write in mine a lot, but I have figured some things out by describing the problem in writing. And talking to trusted friends helps too; "Arianna" is the first of my WIP that I've talked about and it's the first I'm taking completely seriously.

You're welcome to email me.

Please email me what you're writing. I LOVE reading other people's work.
